The amount of coverage is equal to twice the maximum salary of Class VI rounded up to the next one thousand dollars.

Coverage for teachers and superannuates up to age 65 includes an amount for accidental death and dismemberment (AD & D) benefits equal to and in addition to the amount of term life in effect.

Coverage for superannuates age 65 to 85 inclusive is equal to $20,500 for both term insurance and accidental death and dismemberment.

When you turn 65 and your birthday is between January 1st and August 31st your insurance coverage will change September 1st of this year to $20,500. If your birthday is between September 1st and December 31st your insurance coverage will not change to $20,500 until next September. This is because the insurance year runs from September 1st to August 31st, and what age you are at September 1st determines your insurance coverage. You will receive a letter in August of this year informing you of the change in your insurance coverage. Included with your letter will be a form for you to cancel your coverage at that time should you wish to do so.
